Overview

Australia's leading private wealth manager engaged Capmark to rebuild the operating model behind its revenue: every advice fee, commission and funds management charge, the platforms that calculate them and the ledgers that record them. The programme spanned third-party advice wrap platform integration, implementation of aspects of the Iress suite, and remediation of the underlying ledgers.

The challenge

What we were asked to solve.

Fee and revenue processing had grown up product by product. Calculation logic was inconsistent across advice fees, commissions and funds management, the business depended on a third-party advice wrap platform that was not cleanly integrated, and the ledgers beneath revenue could not be relied on without manual rework. Clients and the regulator expected fees charged to match the services delivered, provably.

We redesigned the fee and revenue operating model front to back, then delivered the platform and ledger change to make it real.

Revenue & Fee Operating Model

Redesigned the operating model for all revenue: advice fees, commissions and funds management charges, with clear ownership, standard calculation logic and controls at every hand-off.

Wrap Platform Integration

Integrated the third-party advice wrap platform into the fee and revenue architecture, so adviser, product and platform data reconciled to a single view of what each client should be charged.

Iress Implementation

Implemented aspects of the Iress suite across advice and portfolio workflows, aligning fee instructions, client records and revenue processing on supported technology.

Ledger Remediation

Updated the ledgers beneath revenue: account mapping, posting logic and reconciliation, so recorded revenue matched calculated fees without manual intervention.

Test & Cutover

Ran the full test lifecycle, from requirements through UAT to production cutover, and stabilised the new model in live operation.
